Those Floods

Floods aren’t new to me, You know.
Times I’ve followed precarious shifting shingle
between two sullen waters:
times I’ve waded on, following some sunken path,
faltering through deepening, chilling flood,
yet, all the while, Emmanuel-persuaded,
Lord, I choose to trust You.
So as to Jordan’s flood,
my final crossing,
and how I’ll do:
Sure, Lord, You’ll see to that,
for You have promised,
and I’ve been practising !
