"The
LORD your God carried you, as a man carries
his son, in all the way that you went until you came
to this place, yet, for all that, you did not believe
the LORD your God." Deut.1:31-32
He Carried Me
Ungrateful lot,
scourged, whipped no more,
slavers just a memory,
safe from Egypt’s wrath,
the Almighty’s special care,
but thankless !
O, God, forbid
that, pardoned, I should thankless be.
O, Spirit, prod, provoke me,
whatever it takes;
my Father’s borne me all the way
safe to this place !
