Nameless Ones

Somehow we expect
an honesty, straight dealing
from the Great Ones,
those who make the headlines in Your Book.
But thank You Lord
for the nameless ones,
carpenters, builders, masons
who ‘dealt faithfully’,
shone their light before men,
unselfconsciously, quietly
giving You the glory.
May we, who are Your Church,
aspire to be like these,
Your nameless ones !
