Do Not Dispute

Lord, I’m grieved.
You’d have us multiply -
instead, we divide.
God’s prickly people,
stubborn about our ‘principles’
that do not always coincide with Yours.
Blunt weapons,
inconsistent with the love to which we’re called.
Lord, grace us to retrace our steps,
pick up the broken pieces,
mend what we can and make us men of peace,
conspicuous for our love.
