Niggards

Why do we, niggardly,
dole out in spoonfuls,
the trust we know You’ve earned from us?
You found us, contented sinners,
stubborn rebels.
First loved us, called us to love you too.
Hard hearts melted, opened wide
to Your touch of love;
miracle indeed !
What greater miracle can we ask of You?
How better can You prove Your love?
Father, forgive ! Forgive !
Remind our greedy, grasping hearts,
more blessed far to give than to receive.
to want to give You all we are,
our so-deserving God !
