Saint Paul wrote, "You are our letter written in our
hearts, known and read by all men; you are mani -
festly a letter of Christ, ministered by us, written
not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not
on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of
the heart." 2 Cor.3:2-3

God’s Letter

God’s Holy Spirit wrote a letter.
He used no drop of ink, nor vellum,
no chiselled stone -
but wrote on my too human heart of flesh,
so frail, so fallible.
Master, what people know of You, alas,
some glean it as they read my life, not Yours.
Master, forgive if I have made
more difficult their pilgrim way
because, in doubting me, they doubted You.
Lord, in Your mercy grant
this lowly letter that is I
may, in Your providence, yet be
more worth the reading.
