Isaiah
wrote, "I said ‘I have worked, but how hope -
less it is ! I have used up my strength, but have
accomplished nothing’. Yet I can trust the Lord to
defend my cause; He will reward me for what I do."
Isaiah 49:4
I Will Arise
Funny that !
Isaiah, a God-used man,
anointed to give His people, then and now,
sublimest scripture, purest prefiguring
of One to come -
Jesus, our Rescuer from sin and loss,
Jesus, Saviour.
Isaiah, do I see you hopeless?
All done that you could do for love of God,
believing nought accomplished?
brother, I know the feeling,
a lesser man than you by far
and yet I’ve been there too,
gave what I could ‘til weary, then, dejection.
I’m glad you showed your hurt,
allowed me see you as you were,
no plaster-saint but, like me, human.
Come, brother, let me sing along with you
our creed undaunted, de profundis,
trusting our common LORD !
